A prime example of modern African city, Harare has a mix of contemporary and well-preserved historic buildings with wide thoroughfares, stunning tree-lined streets, numerous parks and gardens. Harare being the cultural and economic hub of the country harbors several tourists' attractions.

There is a strong appreciation for the city's cultural and historical heritage and a number of older buildings have been preserved. The National Archives of Zimbawe, founded in 1935, is the repository for the history of Rhodesia and Zimbabwe. It houses a priceless collection of diaries, notebooks and reports of various origins. Other historical and cultural institutions worth a visit are the Queen Victoria Museum, the Queen Victoria National Library and the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences.

The city of Harare Zimbabwe was designed with several open natural parks and spaces for residents to enjoy the outdoors. Some of the famous parks are Greenwood Park, Harare Gardens, Mukuvisi Woodlands and National Botanic Gardens. Greenwood park is very famous among kids with rides particularly for those under seven. Harare Gardens is the city's largest park with Island-like stand of rainforest and miniature Victoria falls and Zambezi Gorge.

Those on Harare travel should consider going for a stroll in the National Botanical Gardens, which contains more than 900 species of wild shrubs and plants from around the country.Mukuvisi woodlands is a preserved natural woodland housing wildlife such as giraffes, wildebeests, zebras and Impalas. Some other famous parks worth visiting in Harare are Lion and Cheetah Park, Larvon Birds Garden and the Snake World.

If you want to experience shopping the way it is traditionally done in many African countries, you need to stroll around at the open flea- market at Mbare. Here tourists can feasts their eyes on a colorful array of baskets, food, clothing and other items. When shopping or exploring the attractions in Harare has tired you out, the city has an impressive array of restaurants and café's offering traditional Zimbabwean, American and European food. An excellent five-star hotel, the Meikles Hotel, is available, as are other international chains such as Holiday Inn and the Crown Plaza. There are also international carriers that fly to Zimbabwe Harare. The popular ones include KLM, Air France, and Kenyan Airline.
